mini gardens photoEver wished to have a nice garden at home, but later realized it is impossible because you live in an apartment? Good new for you!

I will tell you how to make your wish come true. Follow my tips to create a mini garden on your balcony and you will discover its magic without so much effort.

To create an earthy look, you can use small containers and pots to form a mini garden at the corner of your balcony. You can buy containers that can easily be hanged on your balcony railing. You can also hang medium size pots on the roof of your balcony, if you have one. However, do refer to your apartment rules before you install any fixtures to your outdoor area.

Be sure to select containers which have good drainage. Pick fuss and mess free containers so you would not have to worry much about your mini garden turning into a mosquito breeding heaven. You can place small river rocks around the containers to create a more natural look. These rocks are available in most pet shops, hardware stores and major supermarkets.

The flowers or plants you choose to fill up your mini garden must be suitable with the surrounding. If your balcony is exposed to sunlight all day, be sure to place plants that can endure such weather like cactus. On the other hand, if your balcony is rather shady, pick plants that can live under shades.

Besides planting flowers, you can opt to plant potted palms trees. Palm tress will create an oasis like atmosphere on your balcony. However, palms trees are a bit sensitive to cold weather and they are a favorite of tree-bugs.

You should not stick to just one type of plant or pots. You can plant two or three different type of plants and use different size pots to add more character to your mini garden. If your apartment rules allow the installation of fixtures to your outdoor area, you can even place a mini waterfall on your balcony.

Be informed that your garden needs to be watered on daily basis and tiny weeds needs to be pulled out every once in a while. You will need to fertilize your plants about once a month.

If you decide to use these tips on how to create a mini garden on your balcony, be sure to keep it neat and tidy at all times. Do not let your nice balcony turned out to be an eye-sore.
